April 19, 2025 - Sigma Gamma Fraternity Carries Out Another Tim Schulz Classic - With Tim Shulz Himself, The Legend On Hand To Supervise

A long time, revered tradition in our fraternity is organizing the Tim Schulz Classic.  This is a 3 on 3 bro only tournament that is always fiercely competitive, and a lot of fun for all.

This year's classic was extra special as the tournament's founder, Tim Schulz himself was on hand. Tim started this tournament in 1969 (!!!!!) and we've tried hard to keep this tradition going every year.  Special thanks to Anthony "Melo" Locasio for organizing such a great time for the bros.

Winning team:
Jake TΣΓMINATOR Jarosinski SP ‘22
Danny DIMΣS Rudolph F ‘23
Cristian VADΣΓ Bertoni SP ‘25

April 11, 2025 - Sigma Gamma Fraternity Welcomes the Spring 2025 Pledge Class as New Brothers

We are delighted to welcome our new brothers from the Spring 2025 Pledge Class.  PM Max Leifert (IΓON Spring 2022) and his pledge committee did an excellent job in running a smooth program and paving the way for a successful recruitment environment for the next school year. These young men will help write the next chapters of Sigma Gamma's iconic history.

April 3, 2025 - Alumni Adviser Bill Testa, F'84, Comes Through For The Fraternity Once Again

Sigma Gamma Alumni Advisor Bill Testa (F'84) came through for the fraternity yet again.  STUD! Earlier today, Bill met up with one of our newer brothers (Anthony "Greaser" Brescia, F'24) in Sodus to personally hand off two composites that Bill personally arranged to have printed and framed. This is how leadership by example happens and it's what we as brothers in Sigma Gamma Fraternity push each other to make happen.

These composites will look great on the walls with our other many framed composites. There's nothing like coming back as an alumni and seeing your younger self proudly included in a timeless Gamma composite.

Just to get an idea of how psyched an alumni Gamma bro is, just look at Bill's car. He graduated decades ago and yet if you look closely at his car, he's still sporting the Gamma letters on his car. Example setting!

Well done and thank you Bill!

March 30, 2025 - The Awesome Long Time Tradition of Football in Gamma Park Continues

A long time, revered tradition in our fraternity is getting together in Gamma Park to play some football. It's a great way for bros to stay athletic and also see if any friends of ours have some athletic skills, or appreciate those who may not but can make the bros laugh.

Every generation of Gamma brothers has enjoyed this great tradition, which we take pride in continuing. We specifically play ball in this off campus location instead of on campus because of the traditional importance to our organization of this park. There's just no replicating this location. Just look at the pride in each student in this group shot and it'll tell you all you need to know about the closest fraternity in Oswego.

Who knows, maybe you're not yet a brother and you're reading this and want to show off your skills?

March 21, 2025 - Even On Spring Break & 350 Miles From Oswego, Bros Are Focusing On Philanthropy

Our fraternity has long been focused on using our collective resources to help those in need. So while many in our fraternity headed to Cancun for Spring Break, not all of us did. We are really proud of our brothers who pitched in and lent their time and $$ to help out a foundation that is near and dear to our hearts. Namely, the Dylan Newman Forever 5 Foundation out on the east end of Long Island.

Dylan Newman was a young man who was hometown (Southold) friends with our brothers Brady Mahon and Connor Wilinski. Sadly, Dylan passed away of cancer last year and the brothers wanted to do something good to honor his memory. So we donated some supplies to the East End Hospice who treated Dylan.

In these pictures are Lucas Parise (Fall 2023), Brady Mahon (Spring 2024) and Eric Wuestmann (Fall 2024). 3 different pledge classes represented in doing some good together. That's how we roll in Gamma.

March 11, 2025 - Bros Mixing It Up With Our Friends From the Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority

It's certainly no secret that Gamma brothers enjoy the company of our female friends in Oswego. We're always up for letting off a little steam and having social events with our fellow Greeks. This week, we held a terrific mixer with the ladies of Phi Sig. They were honored as Sorority of The Year last year, and are always fun to hang with. A few Gamma alumni who recently finished up their studies at SUNY Oswego made their return in style as well.

Are you reading this while sitting in a dorm room wondering how to make the most of your college experience? Well, so were the folks you see in these pictures at one point. And now, well ... as the saying goes ... just look at them. If you want to be the next era of difference makers for Sigma Gamma Fraternity, then step up and connect with us!

Mary started as a psychology major here and joined the staff in 1996. Since then, she’s been a driving force behind fundraising campaigns, scholarship programs, and naming milestones like the Marano Campus Center and Deborah F. Stanley Arena. She also helped expand alumni relations and development, and career services.

The bonds of brotherhood in Gamma are unparalleled. We do our best to get along with everyone and celebrate what each organization brings to the table. We try to do our part in promoting Greek Life however and whenever we can.
This same kind of picture of smiling Gamma brothers could easily be taken in any of our 8 decades of existence. Scroll through our site and you'll see what we mean. Every single one of these guys will be friends for life, but none of us knew one another when we first set foot on campus.  Think about that when you're pressing the elevator button as you head up to your dorm floor.

Also in this group, we say thanks to our brother Jake Jarosinski for his great work in compiling and finishing the past few composites, including our most recent one.  Gamma is full of leaders like Jake who step up and deliver.

Sigma Gamma Fraternity is known for its exceptionally close bonds of friendship and brotherhood.  It's so awesome to see alumni who pledged 50 - 60 years ago still making the effort to travel and connect with each other.  Alumni Jim Moses has pretty much become the ringleader, handling drinks, manning the grill like an expert and getting t-shirts printed up for the weekend.

These pictures literally embody the phrase, "ALWAYS A BROTHER!!!"

Alumni Mel McLear hosts the gathering every year at his family campground "McLear’s Cottage Colony" on Black Lake. If you're interested in connecting with Mel for your own gathering, here's his website:

May 7, 2024 - Gamma Alumni Greg "Head'ER" Sargent Posts a Gamma Classic To Reinforce the Importance of Iconic Gamma Traditions

Here's a 1980 classic of Gamma legend Greg "Head'ER" Sargent setting an example wearing his classic Gamma Toga at the fraternity's annual Toga Party. Standing next to him is "Pistol" Pete Cummings of the legendary line of (5) Rockland County based Cummings Brothers, all of whom became Gamma brothers. Our alumni are always pushing us to restore/carry out this long time Gamma tradition. These kinds of gatherings call for specific music of course, and the prepared Gamma Social Chairman always rises to the occasion.

April 23, 2024 - Gamma Alumni Dan Tortora Proudly Sporting the Green & Gold

Here's the one and only Dan Tortora, a Rochester based alumni who pledged in 1979 and who served as the Pledge Master for the awesome Spring 1983 pledge class proudly sporting his Gamma fleece. The words underneath our letters spell out an incredibly powerful story.  Our iconic fraternity was founded in 1947, the same year that Jackie Robinson first broke the color barrier in MLB.  Our fraternity was founded by the late great Charlie Weigand who didn't appreciate that as a white man, he could pledge Oswego fraternities while his good friend, a black man named Charlie Kirnon, could not.

Thus, our fraternity was launched.  It's one of many reasons Gamma brothers are so proud to be associated with the green and gold.

Here's our brother Anthony LoCasio showing off two key things.  First, that joining Gamma was his best decision ever in college. You won't have this much fun hanging in a dorm for your whole college career, we can assure you. PSA for incoming transfer students ----> you too can achieve this level of respect during your time in Oswego. Just introduce yourself to a Gamma bro!

The second thing Melo is showing is just how much preparation he is putting into coordinating this year's Tim Schulz.

Many alumni will see this picture and have one instant reaction: "STUD!".

Think you can look as cool as this guy? Do you have it in you to wear green and gold? Then follow up with us. Introduce yourself to someone wearing the green and gold and send us a note on our Contact Us Page.

November 27, 2023 - Sigma Gamma Honors the Memory of John T. Sullivan Passed Away Today at Age 76

The fraternity is saddened to learn of the passing of Oswego legend, John T. Sullivan.  John was a friend to the the fraternity for decades, and lived just down the block from us for years.  In recent years, John enjoyed mentoring opportunities with the brothers and provided welcomed counsel.

John lived an amazing life, inspiring many.  John had an active career as an elected politician, serving as Mayor of Oswego, a county legislator and a co chair of the NYS Democratic Committee.  John also enjoyed several teaching stints along the way and was an outstanding attorney who made his mark.

John was very active with the college and served on the Oswego College Council for 15 years, including as Chair.  John and his wife Charlotte co-founded the Oswego Harbor Fest and championed smart, waterfront improvements for decades.

John was a true friend and we are grateful for the time we were able to spend with him.  You can scroll further back on this news page to find a nice picture of John hanging with his friends in Gamma.

Godspeed, John Sullivan.  Rest in peace sir.

Here's a link to John's obituary.

November 23, 2023 - Sigma Gamma Honors the Memory of Legendary Gamma Bro - AJ Pedone -- Passed Away Unexpectedly 50 Years Ago Today

Friends who stick by you through every cycle of your life. Bros will be there for you. And they will remember and honor your life if something unexpected and tragic should happen to you.

We lost Gamma legend AJ Pedone way too soon, in 1973.  He graduated and shortly after passed away in an accident. He impacted so many in his time in Oswego and is beloved by those who knew and went through the Gamma brotherhood experience together. AJ held just about every office in Gamma that you could hold and was the ultimate difference maker. Rest in peace, AJ. We remember and honor your memory, brother.

November 20, 2023  - Celebrating the Incredibly Rich History of Historic Greek Organizations By Honoring Their Locations From Back In The Day

Recently, some SUNY Oswego Greek Alumni started posting historic pictures of their houses from back in the day. Wow! Some of these places physically don't exist anymore, (thanks to a known local arsonist who recently passed away) and others are used for different purposes or have changed hands. But, posting these reinforces the special place that the SUNY Oswego Greek system has in the annals of history.

Long live the Greek system at our school. We could use A LOT MORE SUPPORT from the school as a whole but that's a narrative for another day.  For now, join us in enjoying these awesome pictures!

October 29, 2023 - Throwing It Back to 1982 Open Smoker at the House

Wow! What a throwback picture!

This is a picture of an Open Smoker at the Gamma House in 1982.  Back in those days, there were no cell phones obviously. Bros invited prospective pledge candidates down to the House to get to know them better. If mutual interest, we'd have them down to a Second Smoker ("The Closed Smoker") and then a follow up ("The 3rd Function"). Gamma brothers as well as invitees all wore name badges to make introductions flow smoother.

In this picture, the guy with the awesome hair and tan shirt is none other than Mike Bambara.  Behind him, the tall guy is Tod Citron and the bro in the flannel shirt is Mike Murray, one of the legendary four Murray Brothers who all became Gamma brothers. He's talking to Dan Tortora. In the distant background you can see Jim Murrell talking with Matt Larkin.

July 17, 2023  - Head'ER Picks Up a Classic Ceramic Mug From 1960 at a Garage Sale!

Sigma Gamma Alumni Gregg "Header" Sargent encountered this classic at a garage sale on Long Island. It was originally owned as a college student by Richard "Dick" Sadlo who passed away a few years ago. It's great that it's back in fraternity hands once again. A month after picking this up, Header gave it as a gift to fellow alumni Daryl "Mama" Richardson in Saratoga. "Mama" will proudly cherish it for years.

If you're an alumni who has some classic memorabilia like this, please use our Contact Us Page to alert us and we will make certain it gets put to good use!

May 29, 2023 - Memorial Day & Another Timely Reminder of the Importance of Making A Difference

Remembering and honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom for all of 🇺🇸 on this Memorial Day, Sigma Gamma pays tribute to the heroes who selflessly served our nation. Let us never forget their courage and unwavering commitment.

These bombs were personally prepared by legendary alumni Charlie "Beppo" Giacomo when he was a fighter pilot in the first Gulf War. Charlie personally marked these bad boys up before delivering them spot on.

May 23, 2023  - Gamma Alumni Robert Needle Passes Away at 64

Sigma Gamma Fraternity is saddened to announce after a valiant fight with cancer, the passing of legendary alumni, Robert Needle, who was a much beloved and respected brother and friend to all. Robert was extremely impactful in his time as an active brother and held many major offices in the fraternity, including as Pledge Master.

Following Robert's academic career at SUNY Oswego, he went on to achieve significant accomplishments and successes in the digital print and marketing field, serving in senior sales management roles at Cunningham Graphics and DG3, where he worked for 28 years.  Robert has been described as a pro's pro  and a true gem of a person.  He will be greatly missed by many and those who knew him are inspired by his memory and friendship.

Bob is survived by his wife Laura, his 3 daughters and two grandchildren. They resided in Marlboro, NJ for many years. Here's a link to his obituary:

We will miss you brother, rest in peace.

May 6, 2023 - Gamma Caring For the Earth. Making a Difference With Our Friends in AEPhi Sorority

We thrive on being difference makers in Sigma Gamma Fraternity.  We look forward to opportunities to care for the environment and enjoy some Greek bonding experiences as we do it. Making the most of our college experiences is what we do in Sigma Gamma Fraternity.

A few hours after we hung out with our friends in AEPhi making a difference, what did we do?  We proudly went back to our house, met up with some of our Alumni and carried out the annual Formal Inductions Ceremony as only Gamma brothers can do. Traditions started in 1947 continue for a reason.

May 5, 2023 - Alumni Still Looking Good Sporting the Green, Gold & White

Here's a great picture of some brothers who were active in the late 80's/early 90's still looking good wearing all the colors of the Gamma spectrum. Gamma brotherhood is what makes smiles like these possible. You're not going to be smiling like this by living on campus all four years and with no involvement in Greek life.

L - R are Nick Meskos, Tom Riley & Derek Fredenburg.

Long live Sigma Gamma Fraternity.  Established 1947. Still going strong in 2023!

April 29, 2023  - Gamma Bros Proudly Continue Carrying Out The Awesome Tradition of the Tim Schulz Basketball Tourney

Our fraternity proudly maintains a tradition started by alumni Tim Schulz in 1969. We have a 3 on 3 invitational tourney that all the brothers participate in. There are definitely some spirited and competitive match ups and the bros have a great time while keeping this really important tradition alive.

Congratulations to this year's winners - John “Yogi” Rath, Anthony “Melo” LoCascio, and Jake “Terminat'ER” Jarosinski.

April 23, 2023 - Rob Ciarelli, F'1982 Unexpectedly Passes Away at 58

Sigma Gamma Fraternity is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Rob Ciarelli who pledged in Fall of 1982.  Rob was a well liked brother who always sported a smile and was ready to help out.

Rob enjoyed a career of 28 years in the Insurance industry and was awarded many professional awards for his achievements.

Rob spent many years in the Seattle area and loved his friends and family. In his lifetime, he was blessed to travel far and wide and he made friends wherever he went. Rob cherished the time spent with friends, sharing stories and reminiscing. Above all else, Rob loved his family and made “his girls” his top priority.

Here's a link to his obituary notice.  Rest in peace, brother.

March 4, 2023 - Some NYC Gamma Alumni Gather to Continue the Winter Gathering Tradition

Alumni Adviser Brad Farber (Fall 09) endeavors to uphold a tradition where NYC area Gamma alumni gather for a Friday night Happy Hour. Some years, lot of alumni come. Others years not as much. It's always a good day to hang with your fellow Gamma alumni; we're all connected.

Here's a shot from this year's gathering near Madison Square Garden. A bunch of alumni came after this picture, but we didn't bother taking a new one. See you at the next one brothers!

Long live Sigma Gamma Fraternity.  Established 1947. Still going strong in 2023!

January 21, 2023 - Jake "Terminat'ER" Jarosinski Crafts a Replacement for the Classic Sp 2022 Pledge Project That Burned In The Fire

The May 2022 fire at the House was devastating. Gamma lost a lot of priceless artifacts and fraternity momentos. One example was the great Gamma flag from Spring 2022 that was part of a pledge class project.

Over the winter break, Jake  Jarosinski re-created it and added an appropriate new touch, some flames.

Just awesome. Difference makers excel.

Great to be able to hang this back on a Gamma House wall. Nice job, Jake!

December 17, 2022  - Alumni Pete Carbocci (S'82) Unearths a Classic

It's always terrific when our many proud alumni dig through their photo archives and unearth an instant classic. Here's a great picture from Fall 1984 of Pete Carbooci (S'82) (L) and Jeff "Sluggo" Franzel (S'84) looking out on Gamma Park. Pictures like this tell more than a story about the many good times at 53.

November 14, 2022  - Gamma Bro G Gagnier Shares Awesome Family Picture - Proud Of Their Greek Roots!

To be in Gamma, you don't necessarily need to have parents who were also Greeks.  But, it sure doesn't hurt.  Our brother G Jackson Gagnier recently shared an awesome picture of his parents and his sister.  All of whom are proudly representing their respective Greek colors. This is a powerful image that sums up how proud one feels in joining a thriving Greek organization and making the most of one's college career.  You won't share this level of pride by sitting in your dorm room for your entire college career.

Long live Sigma Gamma Fraternity! Established 1947. Still going strong in 2022!

Can you picture yourself looking this proud?

Completing the Gamma Pledge Program requires dedication, focus and effective time management skills. Difference makers excel.

Our Fall 2022 did a great job of furthering the interests of the fraternity. Lots of home improvement work, polishing up composites and pledge class paddles that survived the fire  and pushing the Gamma needle forward in many ways. Congratulations to our new Sigma Gamma Fraternity brothers!

Here's our Pledge Master, Joe Rorro surrounded by his Fall 2022 Pledge Class.

October 30, 2022 - Gamma-fying The Kegerator

Several of of our alumni jumped at he chance to help sponsor the replacement of a proper  Gamma kegerator. Here's a "work-in-progress" look at the Gamma Fall 2022 Pledge Class adding value by Gamma-fying an important piece if fraternity history. More to go but this is a great start!

Sigma Gamma brothers are all about details.

We adapt and we overcome. And we serve up cold refreshments to our guests. Come see for yourself.

October 29, 2022  - Gamma Bros Stepping Up To Help A Friend Get His Family Property Get Ready for Winter

Our brothers are always looking to lend a helping hand. That's why we jumped at the opportunity to help out a highly respected friend of our fraternity. He's a busy guy helping things flourish in Oswego and asked a bunch of us if we were interested in some physical labor on a nice Oswego day. Our mission was to gather up, cut and organize a bunch of wood to serve as a fuel source during the upcoming winter of Oswego. So, a crew of us headed over and we did it up.  As usual, and we had a damn good time doing it.

It's outings like this that continue to bring us closer and forge the bonds of brotherhood that embody the very reasons you'd want to join a Greek organization at SUNY Oswego.

This is almost a calendar shot, so maybe some female friends of ours will appreciate it too.

Can you picture yourself stepping up when the situation calls for it? Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire others?

If you are, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

October 23, 2022  - Longtime Advisor Emeritus, Doc Smith Back Hanging With the Bros Again

Dr. John Kares Smith, a/k/a "Doc Smith" or just "Doc" has a long, storied history with our iconic fraternity. He's literally spent decades getting to know us and helping us celebrate our rich history and traditions. Covid impacted Doc's ability to hang out with us and he's slowly working his way back into our orbit. All of us, and our alumni have made it clear to Doc that his presence is welcome any time. If you'd like to read more about Doc's ties with us, you can read about that here, and also here.

Here's a few pictures of Doc hanging with us as we watched the Yankees. The game didn't turn out as we wanted, but we had a good bbq and enjoyed the bonds of brotherhood along with Doc.

Good stuff all around.

Can you picture yourself hanging with a Gamma legend like Doc Smith?

October 23, 2022  - Gamma's Fall 2022 Pledge Class Nailing the Responsibility to Add Value

Our fraternity has a long tradition of naming the various rooms of any location we're operating from. This tradition harks back to the 1960's when the Gamma bros at 53 West Seneca determined that the iconic rooms in the old mansion needed a better naming convention.

There's some great backstories and history about these room names! You can read about that here.

We encouraged our Fall 2022 Pledge Class to construct some new room name signage and the results are pretty good so far. Some of them probably need some more work, we'll see. You can see for yourself.

Gamma will always adapt and overcome.

Can you picture yourself a future Gamma pledge adding value and continuing the great history of our iconic fraternity?

If you can, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

October 22, 2022 - Gamma Worms Deliver What The Ladies of Oswego State Demand

A highlight of any semester is the carrying out of the classic Sigma Gamma Fraternity pledge program. In our fraternity, pledges are called "worms". If you'd like to know why, you can read about that here.

Our pledges, or worms as they're called, take pride in doing what they can to improve the fraternity. A big component of that  falls into the broad category of "working on the house" and planning and carrying out of multiple "pledge projects".

A few weeks ago, as we were settling into our new location following the disastrous May 2022 fire, our brothers Jake Brown and Jake Jarosinski constructed a new stage for our female guests to show off their considerable dancing talents. While it was a great start, the ladies demanded more finishing touches. And rightly so. We mentioned this to the worms, and they stepped right up and delivered for the ladies. This is what we do.

Here's a picture of the finished product. It's going to need regular coats of sealant and cleaning to keep looking this good!  This picture, quite simply, is the illustration of Gamma Pride. Well done worms.

October 22, 2022  - Gamma Bros = Always a Presence at Oswego State (Welcome to Oswego, Parents Weekend Fall 2022)

Our historic fraternity tries hard to always be a strong, positive presence at SUNY Oswego. The pandemic impacted everyone, including us. But, we're psyched to see every incremental step forward including the traditional Parents Weekend activities. Our terrific new advisor, Justin Dickerson, is directly involved in and coordinates these kind of events and we're grateful for his ongoing encouragement to stay involved with and connected to these kinds of outreach events.

Here's a group of us gathering with Justin (far right) as we were preparing to set up our table, and classic Gamma banner. We brought along a few of our iconic Sigma Gamma fraternity paddles too.  We enjoyed introducing ourselves and our historic fraternity to parents and we had some laughs along the way. Participating in these events forges even tighter bonds of brotherhood, and add to the many laughs we have at our weekly meetings, particularly the Chaplain's Report.

Can you picture yourself extending your hand and giving a fellow students parent a firm handshake and welcoming them to Oswego State?  Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire others?

If you are, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

October 13, 2022  - Gamma Salutes the Ladies of AEPhi With An Awesome "Around the World" Mixer & Special Shout Out To Go Fund Me Organizer Jenna Amico

Our fraternity had an absolute awesome time mixing it up with the fun loving ladies of AEPhi. We have a long tradition of hosting themed parties, and every fall we have an Around The World mixer. We also used this gathering as an opportunity to give a special shout out to AEPhi sister and all around leader Jenna Amico.

Immediately after the disastrous fire of May 2022, Jenna sprang into action and quickly organized a Go Fund Me campaign to benefit Gamma's recovery. Our own alumni stepped up big time as did so many in the close knit Oswego State Greek alumni community. As well, several parents of our own brothers stepped up big time as well. We are so grateful for the support and it's enabled us to get our footing back.

Gamma will always adapt and overcome.

Since we can't personally thank each wonderful human who stepped up to help, we set aside a few moments to give a sincere shout out to Jenna Amico. Gamma brothers try hard to be gentlemen, and we gave Jenna a sincere hug and a few bottles of wine. Thank you, Jenna!

For what it's worth, here's a link to the Go Fund Me Campaign.

We all had a great time. Events like these are why Oswego State Greeks forge close relationships. A few weeks ago, we had a great time mixing with some of the local sororities too! We love appreciating the history of Greek life at Oswego and we're committed to doing our part, and more, to keep it going.

Can you picture yourself looking up at the iconic Gamma crest?  Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

If you can, and do and are, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

October 7, 2022  - Sean "Belushi" Deluca Bringing Home the "Deepher Dude" Designation

Every fall, the lovely ladies of DiPhi E (Delta Phi Epsilon) hold a contest to see which gentlemen of Oswego deserve designation as a Deepher Dude.

Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you just such an individual. Mr. Sean "Belushi" Deluca, living it up and setting the tone in more ways than this post could do justice to.

Keep getting after it, Sean. We see you bro. And a sincere thank you to Kaitlyn Meigel for being Sean’s escort for the day. Big round of applause for Sean for the way he proudly represented Sigma Gamma. The bros were loud in support throughout the competition and had a great time.

Are you a future Deepher Dude surrounded by your fellow Gamma brothers? Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire others?

October 5, 2022  - The Iconic Gamma Crest Rises From The Ashes - Phoenix Rising, Part 6 (Thank You Bruce "Stoli" Wodka

In 1992, Bruce "Stoli" Wodka hand crafted a majestic wooden crest that has hung prominently in our fraternity house. In May 2022, the fire reduced this to ashes. Some quick thinking Oswego Fire Department responders set aside the remnants of it and brothers delivered the tattered remnants back to Bruce for appraisal.

Stoli worked on getting the restorations started and just this past Wednesday (10/5/22) he met up with some active brothers to arrange the handoff. On one condition:

"That the worms finish the restoration work."

Although it needs more restoration, it's pretty freaking awesome for this iconic piece of fraternity memorabilia to have survived the fire and be in the position where it could restored. That's very meaningful for all of us Gamma brothers.

October 1, 2022  - Fall 2022 Bid Day & Some Pretty Ladies Help Gamma Welcome the Fall 2022 Pledge Class

On Saturday, October 1st, Gamma's Pledge Master Joey Rorro formally handed out bids to five new members of the Fall 2022 pledge class. Our friends in SDT had such a good time at our recent mixer that they hand made a banner for us and came over to welcome these young men who are now taking the initial steps in our brotherhood education program.

We are confident that the brothers of Sigma Gamma will collectively shape these young men into being future Gamma leaders, and guys who know intuitively how to step up. That's always the profile of the guys we are looking for. Fall pledge classes, because they exclude freshmen, are typically smaller in size, but just as proud as a unit.

Everyone had a good time executing the traditions associated with Bid Day. It's really quite a moment in one's life when you are handed an official bid to join the iconic brotherhood of one of Oswego State's oldest and historic fraternities. Here's looking at you, current freshmen in Fall 2022, who are of course, eligible to pledge next Spring!

Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire others?

If you are, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

September 29, 2022  - Alumni Jim "Stoney" Stone Unearths & Shares a 1978 Throwback Picture of Dr. Arango

From time to time, our alumni unearth "instant classic" pictures, and recently alumni Jim Stone posted just such a picture. Here's a 1978 look at Dr. German Arango. In this throwback picture from inside the old Gamma House, German wasn't yet the world renowned neurosurgeon that he is today, but he returns for reunions and credits his time in Oswego and in Gamma as pivotal points in his life on the road to all his successes.

Always a treat to see a picture of the Doctor!

 Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

September 28, 2022  - Gamma Brothers Taking Pride in Keeping Up The Tradition of Sprucing Up Doc Smith's Garden

For many years, our brotherhood has maintained a tradition of heading over to the home of our longtime Advisor, now Advisor Emeritus, Dr. John Kares Smith & his wife Jean. Doc came aboard in 1980 and has had an enormous impact on so many young brothers since then.

To repay Doc's kindness, the brothers always look forward to a nice day to do some garden sprucing up work for the Smith's. It's good exercise and the bros have a few laughs while they're working. And they work up a thirst which they'll satisfy afterwards back at the House.  All in all it's a great tradition and once we're proud to keep up.

Can you picture yourself in one of these pictures in the future? Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

If you can, and do and are, and you're not yet in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

September 17, 2022  - Bros Enjoy a Country Mixer with the Ladies of SDT

Gamma brothers were psyched to arrange a country themed mixer with the lovely ladies of SDT. Gamma loves being friends with all of the sororities at Oswego State and we will always do our best to show our guests a good time, in whatever location we're at.

As the long time saying in Gamma goes:

"ALL LADIES CORDIALLY INVITED"

And we mean it.

Can you picture yourself as a Gamma bro entertaining your female friends in the future and stepping up to spread your good cheer?  Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social students?  Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

September 11, 2022  - Old Fart Chicken Bake at Mel McLear’s Cottage Colony in
Black Lake, NY

On the first weekend after Labor Day, a group of Gamma brothers who pledged 50 or so years ago gather together at Mel McLear's Cottage Colony in the Saint Lawrence area of upstate NY. It's a terrific weekend of continuing the close bonds of Gamma brotherhood that were forged many decades ago at Oswego State. Many of these guys are regulars at our Reunion events and always have smiles to flash and stories to share.

Nice to see some of them sporting some colors too.

Can you picture yourself someday at a gathering of your friends from 50+ years ago and feeling as blessed as these guys?

If you can, and you're not in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

September 4, 2022  - Gamma Alumni Advisers Bill Testa & Mike Joseph Re-Stock the Bros With Promotional Stuff

Adding to the Gamma Revival effort, two of our Rochester based Alumni Advisers, Bill Testa (F' 1984) and Mike Joseph (Spring 1983) paid the bros a visit to drop off a batch of promotional materials including updated copies of the classic Consider Sigma Gamma Brochure, as well as Gamma business cards, and posters. We're looking forward to seeing this stuff in use and on display in some dorm rooms and in the House..

Mike and Bill also brought up a bunch of Sigma Gamma koozi's. They look great and we hope they'll be put to good use in Oswego. Mike & Bill met at fellow alumni Scott Pello's brand new place, LD's on the Lake, which is right next to Rudy's. Go see for yourself.

Can you picture yourself as a fraternity alumni in the future and stepping up to help?  Think you have it in you to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

September 2, 2022  - G Gagnier Retrieves Charlie Weigand's Original Founding Sweater From Frank "Kojack" Frazier, S' 1976

In a miraculous turn of events, the very first set of Gamma colors ever, (donated in November 2021) somehow survived the disastrous May 2022 fire. Despite being directly in the line of fire, literally, the protective case we put them in did its job and protected these one of a kind colors.

(You should scroll down some on this page to see coverage of the awesome December 2021 ceremony where we honored Charlie and brought his original colors back into the fraternity in a respectful manner. befitting of the Gamma Legend Charlie was).

In many ways, the saying "phoenix rising from the ashes" is illustrated in the journey these colors have taken since 1947. If you're reading this page, we highly encourage you to check out the Gamma Founder's Page.

Thank you to Oswego resident and Gamma alumni Frank "Kojack" Frazier, S' 1976. Frank took possession of the burned up remains of the frame holding these precious colors and paid for them to be reframed and cleaned. And then brother Frank handed them over to his younger counterpart, G Gagnier with the respect and dignity that these colors reflect.

Sigma Gamma is going to find the appropriate spot in this house to put these up, so everyone can appreciate the iconic historical beginnings of Sigma Gamma Fraternity.

Can you picture yourself making sure the frame on these colors is kept clean and safeguarded? Can you walk in Charlie's visionary footsteps? Can you articulate your views effectively? Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

If you are, and you're not in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

To a man, every bro in Sigma Gamma is focused on expanding our network of friends, and meeting guys who might be interested in finding out more about our iconic fraternity.

(We also like to meet and socialize with friendly ladies too).

We think there are enormous benefits that accompany being an active participant in Greek Life at Oswego State. You can read more about them on this page.  We welcome any student to read our classic  Consider Sigma Gamma brochure, which you can access here.

The bottom line is that Sigma Gamma is looking to make a strong comeback. We overcame some challenges with Covid, and then went through a calamitous fire. But, the phoenix is roaring back and we welcome all young, adventurous enrolled college-aged male students to start taking the steps to Go Greek, and Go Gamma.

L - R, back row are brothers Kevin Meyer, G. Gagnier, Peter Peden, & Jake Jarosinski.  L - R front row are Mike Rosenblum, Matt Gopaul, & Max Leifert.

Framed of course, by the famous Sigma Gamma banner. Over the next few weeks, chances are you'll see us manning more tables at Marano and at various residence and dining halls. We love when there's a "green cloud" effect going on around campus facilities.

Can you picture yourself in this setting in the future, helping to expand Gamma's network to other interesting & social guys?  Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

If you are, and you're not in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

August 31, 2022  - Gamma Brothers Working on a Stage For Our Many Female Friends To Dance On

Our many female friends have made it clear. If it's a Gamma House location, they want a stage to dance on. We are planning to make a lot more customized changes to replicate the look and feel of a Gamma House, but we know ladies like to dance.  On a stage. Having a good time.

So, here's the Jake's doing it up. That being Jake ("Dee'RE") Brown, our House President, and Jake ("Terminat'ER" )Jarosinski, our Treasurer, working together to construct the beginnings of a dance stage for the  ladies.

No doubt this initial stage will get some finish treatment and some classic ER lettering and more.  Gamma worms are going to keep it clean.

One thing Gamma has always been known for throughout our 75 years is respectfully appreciating the beauty of our many female friends and their terrific dancing skills.

Do you have what it takes to be in Gamma and roll up your sleeves and do something that your female friends would appreciate?  Hit us up here.

August 29, 2022  - Gamma Brothers Starting the Week Off Strategizing & Focusing on Recruitment

Being in Sigma Gamma means being actively involved in the daily activities of one of Oswego's most historic, continuously operating organizations. When we map out the activities we want to pursue in the coming days/weeks, we sit together and hash out details as a group. There's no replacement for members of a group holding other members accountable and pushing each other to strive for the successes we all know each brother is capable of.

Here's a candid shot of the brothers planning for the upcoming week.

Can you picture yourself in this setting? Can you articulate your views effectively? Are you a leader who can help inspire your brothers to overcome any challenge that presents itself?

If you are, and you're not in the Gamma pipeline, you should take the steps to find out more and hit us up on our Contact Us Page.

August 28, 2022 - Former Oswego Mayor & Best Selling Author John Sullivan Spends Some Quality Time Encouraging The Bros

Sigma Gamma Fraternity was delighted to welcome John Sullivan, a former mayor of Oswego, and distinguished public figure and long time attorney, to our continuing series of Leadership Development Programs. John imparted invaluable advice and life perspective, which served as continuing motivation for all of us in Sigma Gamma.

This picture, quite simply, is the illustration of Gamma Pride.

Well done bros.

Thank  you John Sullivan. Bravo! We appreciated connecting with you and loved hearing your spot on life advice and encouragement. Thank you!

John has written several books and we highly recommend picking up a copy of his latest, "Pee Not Your Pants: Memoirs of A Small-Town Mayor With Big Time Ideas". You can pick up a copy of this excellent book here:

Being in Sigma Gamma means you'll be friends for life with some great guys who bring out the best in you. This is true whether you're 18 or 98 and any age in between. We are known for having some really close alumni and here's one of many examples of this.

Here's a group of Gamma legends who pledged more than 40 years ago gathering from near and far to be with each other at the historic Saratoga Race Track. If you're reading this and not yet a bro, this collage is what it means by the phrase "Always a Brother". You'll hear that a lot in our fraternity.

Pictured L - R are Pat Barbieri, Gregg Sargent, Jim Murrell, Glenn Goldman, Gerry Magoolaghan, Charlie Giacomo, Gary Tidona and Darryl Richardson.

August 26, 2022  - The Remains of the Legendary Gamma Crest Plucked From the Ashes & Now Delivered to the OG Bro (Bruce "Stoli" Wodka) Who Crafted It

In 1992, Bruce "Stoli" Wodka (pledged Fall 1992) hand crafted a wooden Sigma Gamma crest that our brothers for the past 30 years have been proudly greeting. Displaying this particular wooden, multi - dimensional crest has been so very meaningful to the fraternity. Sadly, it was one of the many priceless fraternity memorabilia that was destroyed or significantly damaged during the fire. The remains of this majestic crest were literally plucked from the ashes of the disastrous May 2022 fire.

In an extremely poignant moment for the fraternity, earlier today (8/26/22) two motivated leaders in the fraternity, Gamma brothers Mike Kennelley and Jake Brown, drove the remnants of the crest to Baldwinsville, NY. There, they hand delivered what's left of it to its original creator. Bruce has said he'll do his best to restore this historic crest and we're all rooting hard for that to happen.

Should/if/when that happens, and this once majestic fraternity crest is able to be proudly displayed again, it will be a historic day for Sigma Gamma.

If you'd like to see what this crest looked like before the fire, you can see a good picture below the hand off earlier today to Stoli.

Thank you, Stoli!

August 25, 2022  - Sigma Gamma - The Phoenix Rises, Part 3 - "More Than Just a House"

If you're reading this post, you undoubtedly know that our fraternity is in the midst of regrouping following a disastrous fire at our previous location. Sigma Gamma Fraternity is resilient and resourceful. Our motto for our 75 years and counting history is this:

"ADAPT & OVERCOME"

So that said, our brothers are in the early stages of setting up our new operating location. In just a few days, the brothers have started settling in and making their surroundings representative of the iconic history that is woven throughout our fraternity history. What do we do? We adapt and overcome.

Here's a sneak peek at some early images of Gamma regrouping. Any opportunity that we can share pictures of a Gamma mirror, the Gamma Lion and some iconic Gamma paddles on the wall, and our legendary banner and a custom metal crest all of which survived the fire  ... is a GREAT DAY!

Do you have what it takes to help write the next awesome chapters of Gamma history? Hit us up here.

August 23, 2022  - Alumni Adviser Michael "Jamm" Joseph (Pledged Spring 1983) Travels to Oswego to Personally Gather Historic Yearbook Pictures

If it's true that a picture tells a 1,000 words then this picture tells a trillion. What an instant classic! In an effort to gather higher resolution historic pictures, Alumni Adviser Michael Joseph traveled to King Hall, at SUNY Oswego. Mike spent the day poring one - by - one over each yearbook the Alumni Office has. Mike patiently snapped individual pictures and did it with the skill of a former yearbook Editor, which in fact Mike was back in the day.

This is a really symbolic picture and over the coming weeks, we hope you'll be able to see for yourself some of these incredibly historic pictures.

Thank you, Mike!

Think you have what it takes in the future to step up and do what the fraternity needs? Think you can be a leader like Mike Joseph is? Then hit us up!

August 16, 2022  - Justin Dickerson Comes Aboard as New Faculty Advisor

Sigma Gamma Fraternity is DELIGHTED to announce that Justin Dickerson has agreed to come aboard to serve as our next Faculty Advisor!

Justin got to know us initially last semester during the bridge period while Dan Roberts stepped in as an interim advisor and has hit the ground running. Justin  joined us in the Spring as we carried out the Formal Inductions Ceremony and started developing key relationships right away. Justin also joined us in June as we gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of Sigma Gamma.

Justin was a 2014 graduate of SUNY Fredonia, where he was in a fraternity himself. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Rochester, earning his Masters in 2016. After this, Justin began a series of positions focused on residence life at the University of Rochester and then moved on to the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where he was in charge of various residence complexes.

In 2021, Justin arrived at SUNY Oswego, serving first as a Residence Hall Director, and quickly promoted to be the Assistant Coordinator for New Student Orientation. In June of 2022, a year after he first arrived at SUNY Oswego, Justin was again promoted and now serves as the Director of Student Orientation & Family Engagement.

Justin has plans to implement individual mentoring and "check - in" sessions with our brothers and we know his guidance will prove invaluable. We are eagerly looking forward to Justin's many anticipated contributions as we plan out the next stages of our post fire recovery.

Welcome aboard Justin!

August 15, 2022 - Gamma Replaces Fire Destroyed Beverage Cooling & Dispensing System

As part of the many steps associated with post fire recovery, we recently ordered a new beverage cooling & dispensing system to replace what was lost in the disastrous fire in May 2022. Systems such as these have been in use in Sigma Gamma since the 1950's. As part of our fire recovery, some of our alumni stepped up and donated the necessary acquisition funds.

Our brothers know that the key to properly operating dispensing systems such as this require regular maintenance, cleaning and keeping a watchful eye on the companion CO2 tank needed for proper pressurization.

Thank you!

Think you have what it takes to help maintain such beverage dispensing systems?  Hit us up !

August 14, 2022  - Alumni Adviser Bill Testa (F 1984) Donates Speakers & Amplifiers to Help The Post Fire Rebuilding Efforts

Recovering from the horrific May 2022 fire requires a series of targeted measures. One important step is the restoration of a good sounding stereo system in the new location. We're delighted to report that one of our Alumni Advisers, Bill Testa (Fall 1984) recently arranged for the donation of several speakers and amplifiers. Our active brothers are pairing this analog equipment up to Bluetooth wireless controllers.

We are looking forward to taking the steps necessary to forge ahead, one incremental measure at a time.

Thank you, Bill Testa!

August 13, 2022 - Gamma Launches Full Scale Effort to Rebuild Iconic Library of Composites in Post Fire Recovery Effort

The brothers of Sigma Gamma Fraternity are still disheartened over the disastrous fire in May 2022. That said, we are a strong and resilient organization and we will overcome this latest setback. Emphasizing our intentions to rebuild, we have launched an all out effort to restore our extensive collection of composites and other fraternity archives.

We reached out to some alumni who provided personal sized copies of composites which we've scanned and are gearing up to reprint and frame. This will be an ongoing initiative.

We invite readers of this page to hop on over to our Composites Page to scroll through our collection of Sigma Gamma composites.  Hit us up if you think you have what it takes to be part of our composite for the 2022 - 2023 school year.

June 10, 2022 - Sigma Gamma Fraternity Alumni Gather in Oswego To Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Our Founding!

Over the weekend, hundreds of Gamma alumni arrived in Oswego from literally all over the world.  Coming just three weeks after the disastrous May fire, the Reunion helped the brotherhood get through this horrific experience.

Plenty of smiles, lots of memories shared and a few refreshments consumed in the company of good friends. The weekend was a total success and we're already making plans for the 80th!

June 9, 2022 - Gamma Alumni Karl Kulow From 1971 Digs Out Some Classic Memorabilia to Donate Back to the Most Iconic Fraternity in Oswego

Rochester based alumni Karl Kulow from 1971 reached out to us through the Gamma website and said he had some Gamma memorabilia to donate. So, on Thursday June 9th, Alumni Adviser Bill Testa (F' 1984) met up with Karl in Penfield. Here's a great shot of "Kool Karl" handing over a 25th anniversary blanket, and his paddle which is especially poignant now that we're celebrating our 75th!

Cool stuff! Thanks Karl. We'll toast one for you this weekend for sure.

June 7, 2022 - Sigma Gamma Proudly Congratulates the Omicron Xi Sorority on the 40th Anniversary of Its Founding

Sigma Gamma proudly congratulates our friends in the Omicron Xi sorority in reaching its 40th anniversary. Way to go ladies!

Gamma has always had a special attachment to Omicron Xi as our brothers in 1982 helped guide and advise the founding sisters of this great sorority as they were getting themselves set up. Gamma brother Kraig Wheeler helped design the original crest for Omicron and painted a nice crest suitable for hanging up at the old Hewitt Student Union.

Here's to many more milestone anniversaries for Omicron!

May 20, 2022 - Mysterious, Unexplained Fire Roars Through the Gamma House at 4 AM - Everyone Gets Out Safely

Unbelievably, after successfully navigating several challenges over the past few years, in the early hours of Friday, May 20th, Sigma Gamma Fraternity was dealt a cruel blow. A mysterious and as yet, unexplained fire raced through our house at 4 AM. As it was after the semester was over, only one brother (RJ Salerno) was at home at the time. Thankfully, the smoke alarms roused RJ out of bed but he was immediately surrounded by flames and smoke and jumped off the roof to safety. We are so incredibly grateful that RJ escaped. Unfortunately, all RJ's possessions and that of certain brothers who were moving in come the Fall semester were destroyed or damaged.

Additionally, this tragic fire consumed some priceless memorabilia and composites that will be difficult for us to replace. As of the time of this writing, we are in damage assessment mode and trying to figure out how to adapt and overcome these latest sets of challenges.

In a sign from above, the original fraternity colors that we recently obtained from our founder, Charlie Weigand, somehow survived. This is truly a miracle, and we're taking it as a sign that like the proverbial phoenix, we will rise again.

In the hours since this fire, we have sincerely appreciated the many folks and constituencies that have reached out, including the college itself.

We also appreciate that the sisters of  AE Phi have launched a Go Fund Me campaign to help us as we figure out relocation and housing plans as well as the efforts we know we will have to undertake to replace burned up pictures, composites, artifacts, banners and more. Thanks you ladies, we appreciate it.

And we appreciate the entire SUNY Oswego Greek Alumni community being so supportive and cheering us on.  We're trying to figure out the next steps.

Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

May 14, 2022 - Sigma Gamma Proudly Congratulates its Members of the Graduating Class of 2022

May 7, 2022 - Gamma Continues its Long Tradition of Helping Advisor Emeritus Doc Smith With Property Upkeep

The brothers of Sigma Gamma Fraternity are proud of their many year tradition of having some brothers help our beloved Advisor Emeritus, Dr. John Kares Smith "Doc" and his wife with property upkeep work. Doc typically has the guys do some outside yardwork and in the winter months, bros venture over to help shovel snow. We appreciate all the years of service Doc gave to Gamma and we're delighted to keep paying him back by lending a hand.

Here's a few pictures from the latest effort.

Hit us up if you think you have what it takes to be part of our brothers helping out Doc and others, in these kinds of service efforts in the future.

April 23, 2022 - Mike Rosenblum Executes a Terrific 2002 Traditional Tim Schulz 3 On 3 Brothers Only Hoops Tourney

Mike Rosenblum "Rosey" did a great job of organizing the traditional Tim Schulz tournament, held immediately after the Formal Inductions Ceremony on Saturday April 23rd. Rosey arranged the teams into double elimination brackets and there was spirited play all day. The teams are purposely evened out in terms of talent and other factors. The brothers really enjoyed bringing this much cherished tradition back.

After many battles, the 2022 Tim Schulz Tourney champions were crowned after rampaging in an undefeated run through the ranks. Congratulations to Kyle Kon, Kyle Riley and Caleb Paley! It's going to be awesome seeing the real life Tim Schulz meet the 2022 Classic winners at the June Reunion.

April 23, 2022 - Sigma Gamma Carries Out 2022 Formal Inductions Ceremony

Sigma Gamma is very proud of our iconic history. We try very hard to faithfully adhere to traditions wherever we can. One important ritual we follow is to execute the Formal Inductions Ceremony as faithfully as our founders did 75 years ago. We light 26 candles to honor our 26 founding brothers, 2 for Scholarship and Goodwill and we read our Creed and some other really neat things. Each new brother is handed a suitable for framing certificate and is told explicitly what's expected of them as new brothers.

If you think you have what it takes to earn your place at a future Formal Inductions Ceremony, you should explore our site more and let us know you're interested in learning more. Hit us up, and learn more about the iconic Sigma Gamma Fraternity, founded in 1947. And still going strong in 2022!

How many Gamma legends can pull this look off?

One, and his name is Tim Schulz. (No t).  We're posting this picture to celebrate the brothers reviving this cherished fraternity tradition. On Saturday, 4/23, after the Formal Inductions, we are going to hold the 2022 Tim Schulz Classic in the Sweatman Hall Gym.

This letter was formally sent to Dan Roberts, the Director of Campus Life on April 6, 2022. April 4, 2022 - Gamma Bros Honoring the Traditional PM Bench in Gamma (a/k/a Franklin Square) Park

In the western, middle part of Franklin Square Park sits a memorial bench made of granite and marble that honors those who sacrificed their lives in WW 1 and 2. This bench sits directly in front of the majestic green house at 53 West Seneca Street. For many generations, our fraternity has referred to this area as "Gamma Park", and if you know the history of Sigma Gamma, you'll understand just how significant this memorial bench is.

So, we are always delighted to see pictures of Gamma leadership sitting on this bench and soaking it all in. In many ways, reflecting on this bench as a Gamma brother stirs up unique and inspiring thoughts.

L - R are brothers Kevin McGarry, Joey Rorro, current Pledge Master Adam Bettan, Frank Stelling and Mike Mastrandrea.

March 25, 2022 - 1982 Composite Re-Surfaces as Gamma Continues to Restore Iconic Fraternity Memorabilia Archive

A serious fire in March 2015 damaged or destroyed some priceless fraternity memorabilia, including several composites. Since then, with the help of alumni support, our fraternity has been steadily rebuilding our impressive archive of fraternity memorabilia.

So, we were psyched when alumni Peter Devine located a copy of the 1982 composite. With funds we're planning to raise at our upcoming 75th Anniversary Reunion in June, we're hoping to print up large sized copies of some of our historic composites which we lost in the fire.

We keep track of what we have and what we're still trying to track down on our Composites Page.  If you're a student at Oswego, and not yet in Gamma, perhaps you too can picture yourself beaming with pride on a composite someday like these gentlemen from 1982 reflect.

March 14, 2022 - "Bros Are EVERYWHERE" - Alumni Who Pledged More Than 50 Years Ago Still Hanging

Thanks to Gamma Alumni legend Jim Moses for sharing these instant classics of  bro lunch gatherings in Florida.

Gamma bros are literally everywhere and their shared experiences of being part of the green and gold keeps 'em coming back and remaining as tight as ever. We love seeing the lifelong bonds of brotherhood illustrated in pictures like this.  If you're at the Gamma House, you can see these guys on the composites from 1969 through 1974. And yet, here they are in March 2022 hanging together like it was 1972. Terrific!

In the first picture, left to right are Leon Pondo, Jim Moses, Scott Lynch, Eric Giebnor and Mike Pitts. See you gentlemen at the 75th in June!

In the second picture, left to right are Tom Luther, Scott Lynch, Gary Goodrich Marvin Snyder Mike Pitts, Eric Giebnor, and Jim Moses.

If you're a student and not yet in Gamma, we'd just like to say that forging and building friendships like these, the ones in Gamma, that last a lifetime are part of the very reason guys like you see pictured pledged in the first place. You probably won't forge the same depth of shared bond experience friendships by hanging just with your circle of dorm friends.

Do you want to be like these guys? They're not referred to "wise elders" for no reason. So,  do what you have to do and take the steps necessary to learn more about Greek Life and about Sigma Gamma Fraternity. The closest fraternity in Oswego. See for yourself.

Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

March 6, 2022 - Spring 2022 PM Adam Bettan Launches the Impactful Spring Pledge Program

Here's a look at the Spring 2022 Pledge Class with their PM Adam Bettan. The entire fraternity is rooting this particular group of young men on, as they will be the future leaders of one of Oswego's most iconic organizations.

Full disclosure though, this picture includes two young men who wanted to participate in the program but who were subsequently deemed ineligible to this semester. We're hoping they continue to hit the books and can be a part of the Fall 2022 class.

In Gamma, we finish what we start, so here's to these gentlemen successfully doing what it takes to become proud members of Sigma Gamma Fraternity.

Vinny Aparicio organized a terrific Sunday night (2/27/2022) dinner the bros put on for Dan Roberts, the Director of Campus Life, and current faculty advisor to Sigma Gamma Fraternity.

Here's a look at the spread Vinny brought over to the House.

If you too would like to eat like a king, with a group of guys you're close with and whose company you enjoy immensely, and you're a student who isn't yet in Gamma, then go ahead and let us know you're interested!

Yup, the bros and their guests all had a good time. Everyone knows, if you want to maximize your college experience it's not going to happen marooned in 3rd Floor Seneca your entire college career. Nope. Come be a difference maker and find out why your best decision as a college student would be to join a Greek organization. If you want to know more, Contact Us!

February 16, 2022 - Alumni Jeff Rea (Pledged 1969) Publishes a New Book, "The Shineman Legacy"

Sigma Gamma Fraternity is proud of 1969 pledge class member Jeff Rea as he publishes a well regarded book honoring the incredible legacy of Dick and Barb Shineman and the creation of the Shineman Foundation.

A new book by the  longtime SUNY Oswego communications guru, Jeff Rea  provides a little-seen glimpse into the life and times of one couple whose foresight has benefited innumerable Oswego County residents.

“The Shineman Legacy: The Founder Speaks” was penned by Jeff Rea, whose three-decade career in journalism eventually led him to a teaching position at SUNY Oswego and then to the college’s Office of Communications and Marketing. Following his retirement, Rea undertook the project to “trace the histories of this unique couple and their vastly different backgrounds – with all the twists and turns of their productive, big-hearted, and eventful lives.”

The Richard S. Shineman Foundation was founded by Dr. Barbara Palmer Shineman with $25 million bequeathed following her husband’s passing in 2010. It seeks to improve the quality of life in communities by providing grant funding to worthy causes and organizations.

Way to go "Stickman"!

February 11, 2022 - Brothers Re-Position the Iconic First Set of Colors Ever

In December 2021, the very first set of Gamma colors ever came back to the fraternity, following the passing of our founder, Charlie Weigand at age 95. We did some re-arranging and we're delighted now to have found a prominent location for Charlie's sweater.

See for yourself.

If you're a student and want to see these in person, hit us up!

If you're curious about the man behind this iconic sweater, click here.

February 10, 2022 - Alumni Ron Hindmarch Unearths and Shares an Iconic Bro Graduation Pic From 1971!

In Gamma, we LOVE LOVE LOVE our history. We encourage our alumni to share some iconic throwbacks. Recently, alumni Ron Hindmarch, who pledged in 1969, shared a classic from 1971.

In the picture are Bruce Babiarz, AJ Pedone, Ron Hindmarch, Jack Klump, Bob
Vickery, and Jim Moses. Although the black robes have evolved a bit since then, and maybe fit better, this is an awesome picture and we're grateful we have alumni who share these with us.

If you'd like to someday be in a picture such as this, contact our Spring 2022 PM Adam  Bettan directly at (516) 445 - 8255 or via the Contact Us page on our site.

February 9, 2022 - Alumni Scott "Bust'ER" Pello Strategizing With the Brothers About Recruiting Efforts

Here's alumni Scott "Buster" Pello (S'98) front and center (with beard and cigar) psyching up the active brothers as they gear up to recruit what we hope will be a sizable pledge class in Spring 2022.

Our brothers always look forward to opportunities to hang with alumni!

February 8, 2022 - Spring 2022 PM Adam Bettan Ramps Up The Recruiting Efforts for Gamma Hoping for a Large Spring 2022 Pledge Class

Here's Spring 2022's PM Adam Bettan. He's leading the efforts to recruit what we're hoping is a sizable pledge class this semester. For various reasons, including being on the shelf for a bit and dealing with Covid restrictions, our organization is looking to refill the pipeline and keep this great thing we have going for many generations still to come.

If you see a Gamma brother, and have an interest in learning more, reach out!

We welcome all inquiries to learn more.

If you'd like to get in touch with Adam directly, you can reach him at (516) 445 - 8255 or via the Contact Us page on our site.

February 7, 2022 - Gamma Reinstates the Long Standing Tradition of Using Ledger Books for Documentation

The fraternity runs best when things are properly documented. It helps tremendously with officer transitions too. So, even though every brother has various electronic devices at their disposal, when it comes to handing down institutional knowledge, sometimes old school is the best approach.

So, our Alumni Board purchased some ledger books for our officers to use going forward. We look forward to ramping up the overall quality of our institutional knowledge as the natural cycle of brothers graduating and new brothers joining plays out.

February 2, 2022 - Brother Ian Stone's Smile Sums Up Why Pledging Gamma Was His Best Decision As a Student

When you're in Sigma Gamma, you're often surrounded by some interesting and engaging fellow students. We like being good hosts and being gentlemen. Usually, good things happen when our house is enlivened by some pretty ladies with genuine enthusiasm for the fraternity.

February 1, 2022 - Gamma Remembers Legendary 1980's Era Bro Robert "Meat" Conroy - Gone 24 Years Today

The fraternity took a moment to toast the memory of the legendary Robert “Meat” Conroy (Fall 1985). Such a good dude. 24 years ago (2/1/1998) he suffered an unexpected aneurysm and passed away way too young. It was shocking at the time as the picture below of a double fisted Meat at the 50th was taken 6 months before. Rest In Peace Meat and thanks for the laughs along the way. You’re not forgotten bro. You did the Office of the Chaplain proud. And then some.

January 28, 2022 - Gamma Brothers Man the Booth at the Campus Recruitment Fair

Gamma takes pride in participating in the Campus Recruitment Fairs that are held at the onset of each semester. This is an opportunity for new students and other students to check out all the registered clubs and organizations and express some initial interest, gather information and potentially exchange contact information.

Some of the best brothers in our history came to us through these fairs. They may not have known anyone in Gamma before the Fair, but not too long after, they're awash in new friends, experiences and opportunities.

Come see for yourself. Explore our site. Then, Contact Us!

January 22, 2022 - Alumni Peter Devine (S'83) Donates Another Batch of Historical Framed Pictures

Just before the new semester started, alumni Peter Devine connected with current House President Matt Danielson to hand off another batch of 17 framed historical and iconic framed pictures of Gamma history. This is part of an ongoing effort to honor the incredibly rich history of our iconic fraternity.

If you haven't yet seen some of these great images, come on over to hang with the brothers. If you're thinking of pledging, hopefully looking at the fun some of these guys are having will encourage you to find out more!

January 20, 2022 - Brother RJ Salerno Installs Upgraded Stereo Speakers Donated By Alumni Fund

Sigma Gamma brothers like to enjoy good music, and we like to entertain our guests. So, after an initial attempt to upgrade our stereo speakers in Fall 2021 proved not to be the solution, brother RJ Salerno did some more research and ultimately wrote up a proposal for the Gamma Alumni Board.

The Alumni Fund contributed most of the funds and the active brothers covered the rest. They sound sweet! And hopefully they'll last for awhile. As always, it's RJ doing it up for the bros. Leading by example is the best way.

January 8, 2022 - Fall 1982's Sean Chabrier Passes Away at 58

Sadly, we note the passing of alumni Sean Chabrier, 58 of Bayville, NY. Sean was part of the Fall 1982 pledge class and was well liked by the brothers of his era. Sean was a character, who we will fondly remember.

Here's a link to Sean's memorial tribute, and his picture from the 1983 composite.

Rest in peace and Godspeed, Chabs.

December 14, 2021 - Dan Roberts, Director of Campus Life at SUNY Oswego Comes Aboard as a Faculty Advisor to Sigma Gamma

All registered organizations at SUNY Oswego need an official member of the faculty/administration to serve as an advisor. After the retirement of Dr. John Kares Smith (Gamma's advisor for over 40 years) we were having a tough time finding a new advisor. Straight up, we're still hoping that Paul Stewart, the founder of the Oswego Renaissance  Association and a Psychology Professor at SUNY Oswego comes aboard too. Indeed for many years Gamma has had more than one advisor, and we're hoping that's what develops in 2022.

That said, we are very pleased, and humbled to announce that as of December 14, 2021, Daniel Roberts, the Director of Campus Life, has agreed to come aboard to help the fraternity in an advisory capacity. There are tremendous potential synergies and we welcome Dan's expected considerable contributions as we go forward. Our Exec Board will be meeting with Dan twice a month and our President will strategize with Dan on a weekly basis.

As well, the fraternity will continued to be closely advised by its hands on management team within the Gamma Alumni Board.

November 26, 2021 - Rest in Peace Alumni Brother Bill ("Wild Bill") Dayton - Spring 1984 - Passes Away

Sigma Gamma Fraternity was saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Dayton, 56 years old, of Owego, NY. Bill pledged in Spring 1984 and was a champion wrestler at the Chenango Valley High School, which is in the Binghamton area.

"Wild Bill" was a lot of fun as an active bro but we didn't really see him much after he left Oswego. In this classic 53 Front Hall picture from 1984, Bill is the one all the way to the right in white t-shirt next to Keith Rafferty. RIP Bill. Thanks for making some of us laugh in college. His obit is here:

Rest in peace Bill.  Thanks for being a fun guy and an old soul.

December 11, 2021 - Senior Day for 3 Gamma Brothers Graduating in December

December 11, 2021 - Sigma Gamma Holds Special Memorial Ceremony for Founder & Reinstates Traditional Formal Inductions

On Saturday, December 11, 2021, Sigma Gamma held a special memorial ceremony to honor the life of our founder, Charlie Weigand. It was a very meaningful and poignant ceremony that was also archived on the FB Live segment of our private page. Several alumni participated as well as the active brothers. Joy Knopp and Laura Kelly from the Alumni Office joined us and lent us easels that we used to display Charlie's original sweater and his new memorial plaque.

During the ceremony, alumni Peter Devine explained the significance of Charlie's vision and how the fraternity was formed. We also took a  moment to honor the significance of Charles Kirnon becoming the first African American student at Oswego to join a fraternity in 1947 as one of Gamma's original 26 founders. He was, in essence, the Jackie Robinson of SUNY Oswego.

After the memorial plaque ceremony, the fraternity once again carried out a Formal Inductions ceremony. Because of various factors, including Covid, we hadn't been able to carry out the Formal Inductions ceremony in a few semesters. This celebration was well attended by alumni and reinforced the incredible, iconic history that our fraternity has enjoyed since 1947.

If you're reading this, and are a student or future student of Oswego, and not yet in Gamma, you should take the steps to learn more about us and envision yourself wearing the iconic green and gold colors of Sigma Gamma (and SUNY Oswego). And you should specifically read this page and Contact Us!

Rest in peace and Godspeed Charlie. Thank you for your service to our country and for having the vision to conceive of a fraternity that will always honor your memory.

Thanks for the memories Charlie. Proudly we hail you, brother.

Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

December 10, 2021 - Gamma Brothers and Alumni Have Lunch with Paul Stewart of the Oswego Renaissance Association (ORA)

We are hoping to structure an ongoing alliance with the active brothers working hand in hand with Paul Stewart and the Oswego Renaissance Association ("ORA") . The ORA is doing some terrific neighborhood revitalization work! We think there are significant ongoing synergies that can be realized by having Paul be more connected to the brothers. Paul is an excellent, skilled, hands on teacher and role model and we know his energy and enthusiasm can inspire the young men of Sigma Gamma.

We will see where this goes but we met with Paul recently to let him know that we have a sincere interest in making something productive happen in the future. Stay tuned for more details, and thank you Paul for meeting with us and for your help and inspiration to date. We admire the outstanding work you and your team at the ORA have been accomplishing!

L - R in the picture are Peter Devine, Mike Mastrandrea, Scott Pello, John Rath and Paul Stewart. Bill Testa was also present but not pictured.

November 15, 2021 - Sigma Gamma Founder Charlie Weigand Passes Away at Age 95 - What An Extraordinary Life!

All of Sigma Gamma celebrates the extraordinary life of our founder, Charlie Weigand, who passed away on Tuesday (11/16/2021) at the age of 95. Charlie was an inspiration to all of us for many decades and lived an extraordinary life. His vision and enthusiasm paved the way in the fall of 1947, for 26 young men to meet and as a group, thrash out their ideas to conceive of a brand new fraternity.

One of their primary goals back then, in post WW 2 days, was to create an organization that specifically barred all forms of discrimination of any kind. In fact, we were the very first fraternity in the SUNY system to specifically include this non discrimination provision in our by laws. This premise and the importance that Charlie and his fellow founding brothers placed on it preceded the national civil rights movement by many years.

Charles Kirnon was friends with Charlie Weigand, and at Charlie’s encouragement, he became (to our knowledge) the first African American to join a fraternity in Oswego. This is why Charlie personally chose the first ever picture that appeared in the 1948 Ontarian (school yearbook) to represent the new fraternity, and that's why you see in the attached pictures, the classic shot of Charlie (in his sweater on the right) and fellow founding brother, Charles Kirnon.
Charlie singlehandedly composed our fraternity creed in 1949 and gathered the brothers together at the old Pontiac Hotel, near City Hall, to read it aloud for the first time. (see picture).

Charlie's original sweater were the very first set of Gamma colors ever made. His family recently sent them to us, and we have now preserved them in a proper display case. We are going to have a formal unveiling ceremony on Saturday December 11th in Oswego to honor Charlie's memory.

Here's a link to an interview conducted with Charlie in 2017 as we were gearing up for our 70th anniversary.

Charlie was born on April 23, 1926 in Ozone Park, Queens. Like many in that time, Charlie fibbed about his age and enlisted in the US Air Force while he was still in high school. Charlie completed 29 combat missions and 13 training missions during the war and served for many years retiring as a Master Sargant in the Air Force Reserve. After returning stateside, Charlie ventured up to Oswego on a GI Bill scholarship. In the fall of 1947, in a small cabin opposite Sheldon Hall, (between where King Hall is now and where the DKK house is now) Charlie convened a gathering of 26 like minded men from all backgrounds and together they hashed out the details for forming a new fraternity. Many of the foundational decisions made that evening still form the very basis for how Sigma Gamma operates today, almost 75 years later.

Charlie graduated SUNY Oswego--- with a Master's Degree in Education, no less --- in just three years, in 1950. Following college, Charlie went on to fulfill his passion to teach and educate in the field of Printing and Flexography, teaching for many years at Plainedge High School on Long Island and later as a Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. Upon retiring, Charles and Marilyn moved to Phoenix, AZ where both he and Marilyn joined and became involved with the Phoenix Elks Lodge No. 335. Charles became Exhalated Ruler of the Elks in 1996 and remained active in the organization for 30 plus years.

In addition to being the Founder of Sigma Gamma Fraternity and marrying the love of his life, Marilyn, (they were married for 73 years!!!) one of Charlies’ greatest accomplishments was being a father. He always wanted a large family and considered himself lucky and blessed to have seven children.

If by some chance, you're reading this and in the Arizona area, Charlie's services are set for visitation on Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. at Hansen’s Mortuaries and Cemetery located at 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ. A funeral service will be held in Ascension Hall at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11001 N. 40th Street, Scottsdale, AZ on Thursday December 2, 2021 at 10 a.m.

Rest in peace and Godspeed Charlie. Thank you for your service to our country and for having the vision to conceive of a fraternity that will always honor your memory.

Thanks for the memories Charlie. Proudly we hail you, brother.

There is an old saying in Gamma, that's simply stated but oh so true.

BROS ARE EVERYWHERE!

October 14, 2021 - Alumni Dayton "Tundra" Richardson Passes Away

All of Sigma Gamma Fraternity wishes to pass along sincere condolences on the passing of Dayton M. Richardson, Jr.  "Tundra" was 65 years old and a resident of Carmel, NY. Dayton is survived by three children and his two brothers, Leo and Daryl (also an alumni of Sigma Gamma).

Some of Dayton's close friends from the fraternity gathered in the Rochester area after his wake and raised a toast to Dayton's memory.

Rest in peace Dayton.  You will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew you.

September 11, 2021 - 20th Anniversary of 9/11 - Sigma Gamma Honors the Memory of Alumni Jim Portorti and the Heroism of FDNY Member Bob Bacon

It's been 7,300 days (20 years) since the awful day that terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan, as well as the Pentagon and Flight 93. On this day, we especially remember alumni Jim "Big Daddy" Portorti , from the 1970 Pledge Class. Jim's hometown was Ithaca, NY and was 52 years old at the time of his death. He was a VP at Marsh & McLennan on the 96th Floor at 1 WTC.

We also take a moment to reflect on and honor the incredible bravery of FDNY Firefighter Bob "Schwartz" Bacon of the Fall 1990 Pledge Class. Bob was one of the many brave first responders who entered the WTC that morning. Incredibly, as the WTC collapsed around him, Bob and some of his crew survived as the stairwell they were on somehow managed to shelter them. We are so very thankful that a true hero like Bob survived to share his experience from that awful day. Those who know Bob can vouch for what a great guy he has always been. Below is a link for a video where Bob in his own words describes the incredible turn of events that miraculously spared him as so many of his brave colleagues tragically lost their lives that day.

Sigma Gamma also wishes to remember and honor the memories of many friends and family members who tragically were killed in these attacks. May they continue to Rest in Peace.

September 7, 2021 - The Gamma Alumni Fund Enables Bros To Continue Improving the House

Gamma brothers always take an enormous amount of pride in improving the House. Recently, the Alumni Fund donated some funds that allowed the bros to add new speakers to a focal point of activity in the House.

Following that up, brothers added a terrific patriotic eagle fixture to the front entrance of the House. It looks terrific!  It's an awesome new addition to the House which symbolizes our ongoing respect for tradition that our fraternity has been known for since our founding in 1947.

Keep up the great work brothers!

Go Greek, Go GAMMA!

August 29, 2021 - Gamma Brothers Are Everywhere, Including at Saratoga Racetrack in August

As every Sigma Gamma brother knows, "bros are everywhere". When you pledge our fraternity and take the steps necessary to graduate our program, you become brothers for life. The friendships created in our college days continue to grow stronger every year through shared experiences.

Here's a typical example of that, where a group of Gamma Alumni are pictured continuing their annual trek to the historic Saratoga Race Track Part for the Travers. These guys are as proud of being part of the fraternity in 2021 as they were when they pledged more than 40 + years ago!

Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

June 13, 2021 - Some Local Area Sigma Gamma Brothers Answer the Call for Volunteers to Beautify A Historic Park in Oswego

Our friend Paul Stewart heads up the Oswego Renaissance Association, and does a great job inspiring Oswego homeowners to spruce up their homes. So, we were happy when he reached out to the fraternity and asked if any local area brothers might be able to pitch in and volunteer their time to help paint the playground area within the historic Franklin Square Park. As this was during summer recess, it was not an official fraternity event but rather just a few brothers who were proud and humbled to participate. Afterwards, Paul invited the lads back to his historic home and gave the brothers the thrill of a lifetime in being able to traverse the majestic Gamma Party Room stairs. It was a grerat day all around.

Making a difference.  It's what we do in Sigma Gamma Fraternity.

Efforts like these not only make the community look better, but also tighten the bonds of brotherhood and increases the pride all brothers feel in being part of the most iconic fraternity in Oswego.

Stay safe everyone.  Go Greek, Go Gamma !

June 8, 2021 - Alumni Steven "Klondike" Glasser, Fall 1982, Passes Away

All of Sigma Gamma Fraternity wishes to pass along sincere condolences on the passing of Steven "Klondike" Glasser at the age of 57. A few years ago, Steve was tragically diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease which progressed. Many who knew Steve appreciated his witty and upbeat personality and his ongoing devotion to his family, friends and our fraternity. Here is a picture of Steve, along with his son Robert, also a proud Sigma Gamma brother.

This picture is particularly noteworthy as it features the ONLY instance of a father and his son serving as Fraternity President.

Rest in peace Steve. You will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew you.

March 26, 2021 - Alumni Donations From Jeff Jacobsen's Super Bowl Pool Result In A Brand New (6) Six Burner Stainless Steel BBQ Grill

Part of the proceeds from the Alumni Super Bowl Pool that alumni Jeff "Kermit" Jacobsen (Spring 1988 Pledge Class) organized earlier this year were recently used to purchase a brand new (6) six burner Char Broil stainless steel BBQ grill from the local Lowe's in Oswego. This beauty is sure to see a lot of use by the brothers!

Here's hoping the brothers remember to cover and clean it regularly.

Thank you Gamma Alumni!

Go Greek, GO GAMMA.

March 11, 2021 - Alumni Scott "Huck" Andrews (Fall 1994) Adds to Gamma's Composite Archive

As part of an ongoing effort to restore, re-print and archive our online portfolio of iconic fraternity composites, Sigma Gamma alumni Scott ("Huck - F'94) Andrews recently shared a scanned image of the 1995 - 1996 composite.

We encourage ALL Gamma alumni to look through their stuff to see if they too can assist in making our archives even more comprehensive.

To track the progress of our ongoing archival/reprinting composite project, please see the COMPOSITES PAGE. Our goal remains to have as many printed AND DIGITAL versions of composites as possible.

Stay safe everyone.  Go Greek, Go Gamma !

February 27, 2021 - Sigma Gamma Brothers Stay Productive in COVID Time By Continuing to Carry Out Home Improvements

An important part of fraternity life when you're in Sigma Gamma is rolling up your sleeves and pitching in to improve the House. This has never been more true than this past year as the Covid - 19 pandemic still rages. So, here are some pictures of the brothers carrying out some home improvement work. Efforts like these not only make the house look better, but also tighten the bonds of brotherhood and increases the pride all brothers feel in being part of the most iconic fraternity in Oswego.

Stay safe everyone.  Go Greek, Go Gamma !

February 20, 2021 - Alumni Jeff "Kermit" Jacobsen Organizes Super Bowl Pool - Winners Donations and Alumni Contributions Net Large Donation to Sigma Gamma Active Fraternity

Sigma Gamma Fraternity appreciates the ongoing support from our active, highly engaged alumni base. As part of these efforts, alumni Jeff "Kermit" Jacobsen (Spring 1988) organized a Super Bowl pool. The pool was set up such that entry fees were earmarked for the fraternity. Additionally, in keeping with previous years, several winners also donated large shares of their winnings to the fraternity.

We are especially grateful to Scott "Buster" Pello (Spring 1998) who donated $600 of his winnings. Also, Joe "Chips" Duke (Sp. 1982) specified that his donation be directed to a community service endeavor that could be geared towards first responders.

Gamma's Alumni Fund Board is currently working with the active fraternity officers to identify specific helpful capital spending initiatives that would benefit Sigma Gamma.

Thank you again to Kermit for organizing and thank you to all of the alumni who participated in this terrific fundraiser. For posterity's sake, we'll note that the 2021 Super Bowl was won by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 31 - 9 over the Kansas City Chiefs, and that QB Tom Brady was awarded the MVP Trophy.

Stay safe everyone.  Go Greek, Go Gamma !
