The classic crest of Sigma Gamma Fraternity was
designed in 1947
by one of our original founding brothers, Edward Nalbandian. A great deal of thought was put into determining what symbols would appear on our crest.
The name Sigma Gamma
was chosen as the name to represent Scholarship and Goodwill. The symbols on the crest represent:
Eagle:
Stands for vision and foresight
Crossing halberds (swords):
signify strength
The olive branches: Represent striving for peace, love and brotherhood
The burning lamp:
Signifies the knowledge that the 26 original founders strove to reach for themselves and to pass down to future members of the fraternity
The colors of the fraternity have their own meaning as well:
Green:
Youth and hope
Gold:
Strength and endurance
White:
Faith and purity
