New Member Book

This is the classic Sigma Gamma potential new member education book cover that each is required to make as part of their experience joining Sigma Gamma.(The picture shown is of Jeff Gagnon's book, in Spring 1985).  These books are silk screened with the classic Sigma Gamma crest just as originally made by our founding brothers. They are cut, sanded multiple times, silk screened and then multiple coats of marine grade polyurethane are applied. The front and back covers are held together by sturdy rings. Initially, new members carry manila folders with a large ER stenciled on the front while they are in the midst of making their actual books.

The contents of the Gamma new member book follow a traditional order and protocol. Since these books take effort to make, classes don't typically have these ready at the very beginning of the program.  So, they start out with a manila folder, with a classic ER stenciled on the front while their real books are being cut out, sanded, silk screened and varnished.

The Gamma new member book pages are intended to document certain details of the fraternity, its members, our alumni and symbols. The pages are inserted into the books after loose leaf reinforcements are applied so that they will hold up over the years. Included in these books are pages which memorialize the new member's interactions with brothers.

Just like the classic Sigma Gamma paddles, these books are a valued keepsake and should always be handled with care.  Many Sigma Gamma brothers regard their books as one of their life's most prized possessions.  We'll show you why.
